Single Amplifier — Basic System
Illustration in preparation Description: Complete wiring diagram: head unit → 4-ch amp via 4 RCA cables + remote wire; amp → 4 speakers (FL, FR, RL, RR); power wire with inline fuse from battery; ground to chassis; all wire gauges labeled
Components: - Head unit with 4-channel preamp output - 4-channel amplifier - 4 speakers - 1 power wire run (fused at battery) - 1 ground wire
Wire specifications for 200W total system: - Power: 8 AWG from battery to amp (fused 40A at battery) - Ground: 8 AWG, amp chassis to chassis ground point - Speaker wire: 16 AWG, max 10 ft runs - RCA: Quality shielded, routed opposite side from power
Two-Amplifier System — Front + Subwoofer
Illustration in preparation Description: Wiring diagram with distribution block: battery → 4 AWG main → distribution block → 8 AWG to 4-ch front amp → 4 front speakers; distribution block → 8 AWG to mono sub amp → subwoofer; 6-channel RCA from head unit; all grounds to same chassis point
Key features: - Distribution block for clean power splitting - Individual fuses at distribution block for each amp - All grounds to single point ("star ground") - Separate RCA runs for front and sub signal
Three-Amplifier Active System
Illustration in preparation Description: Complex diagram: head unit → DSP via RCA; DSP → 3 amps via individual RCA pairs; 2-ch tweeter amp, 2-ch midbass amp, mono sub amp; power from 0 AWG main to distribution block with 3 fused outputs; all grounds star-connected
Illustration in preparation Description: Close-up of DSP wiring: input connections from head unit (2 RCA pairs), 6 output RCA pairs to amplifiers, remote turn-on chain (head unit → DSP → amps), power and ground to DSP
Remote turn-on chain:
Head unit remote → DSP remote in → DSP remote out → All amplifier remote terminals
This ensures DSP powers on before amplifiers (processes signal before amps turn on) and amps turn off before DSP (DSP mutes before going silent).
DVC Subwoofer Wiring Configurations
Illustration in preparation Description: Four wiring diagrams for a single DVC 4Ω subwoofer: coils in parallel (2Ω final), coils in series (8Ω final), showing terminal connections clearly
Single DVC 4Ω subwoofer:
| Configuration | Final Impedance | Use when |
|---|---|---|
| Coils parallel | 2Ω | Amp rated 2Ω, want max power |
| Coils series | 8Ω | Amp stability concerns, bridge mode |
Illustration in preparation Description: Six wiring diagrams for two DVC 4Ω subwoofers: all configurations with final impedance labeled — 1Ω, 2Ω, 4Ω, 4Ω (alternate), 8Ω, 16Ω
Two DVC 4Ω subwoofers — all options:
| Coil config per sub | Sub connection | Final impedance |
|---|---|---|
| Parallel (2Ω each) | Parallel | 1Ω |
| Parallel (2Ω each) | Series | 4Ω |
| Series (8Ω each) | Parallel | 4Ω |
| Series (8Ω each) | Series | 16Ω |
The "missing" 2Ω configuration requires one DVC 4Ω sub wired with coils in parallel (2Ω), then bridged amplifier — the sub sees 2Ω, amplifier doubles the voltage swing.
Battery System Configurations
Illustration in preparation Description: Two-battery parallel wiring with isolator relay: alternator → primary battery → isolator relay → secondary battery; power distribution from secondary to amplifiers; isolator control wire from ignition; fusing shown at each battery
Illustration in preparation Description: Four-battery bank: all positives connected via heavy busbars with individual fuses, all negatives to common ground bus, main output to amplifier distribution block; wire gauges labeled (0000 AWG interconnects)
Parallel battery rules (visual summary):
- All connecting wires equal length
- All connecting wires equal gauge
- Each battery individually fused
- Isolator between primary and secondary bank
- All grounds to same point
