Ohmic Audio

Chapter 9: Visual Reference & Blueprint Library

Visual data is the bridge between theoretical engineering and practical installation. This library provides standardized blueprints and interpretation guides used throughout the Ohmic Audio. Every diagram follows our instrument-grade visual standards for line weights, semantic colors, and technical accuracy.

9.1 Reading and Interpreting Graphs

Understanding acoustic data requires more than just looking at a line. Technicians must understand the context of the measurement.

The RTA (Real Time Analyzer) Plot

The Waterfall (CSD) Plot

This 3D plot adds a Time Axis (Z-axis). It shows how long a frequency takes to stop vibrating after the signal ends. Vertical "ridges" indicate problematic resonances in driver cones or vehicle panels.

9.2 Standardized Wiring Symbol Library

Use these symbols when drafting system schematics to ensure universal legibility.

Component Visual Standard Notes
BatteryThick horizontal lines (Long/Short pair)Mark polarity with + and -
FuseSigmoid curve within a rectangleLabel with Ampere rating (e.g., 200A)
Chassis GroundThree horizontal lines of decreasing widthThe "Pitchfork" symbol
AmplifierTriangle pointing toward outputInclude Power, Ground, and Remote pins
SpeakerCone profile with voice coil boxLabel nominal impedance (e.g., 4Ω)
Twisted PairTwo lines with periodic "X" crossoversUsed for RCA and Digital Data lines

9.3 Speaker and Enclosure Anatomy

Loudspeaker Cutaway

  • Surround: Controls mechanical excursion limit.
  • Spider: The "suspension" that centers the coil.
  • Voice Coil: The motor's electrical heart.
  • Pole Piece: Directs magnetic flux into the gap.

Enclosure Exploded View

  • Double Baffle: Increases rigidity for high-SPL subwoofers.
  • Internal Bracing: Prevents wall flex (parasitic resonance).
  • Aeroport: Flared ends to minimize turbulence.
  • Terminal Cup: High-current bolt-through connection.

9.4 Instrument Frequency and Crossover Charts

Where common instruments live in the 20Hz-20kHz spectrum. Use this to guide your EQ choices.

9.5 Electrical Reference Diagrams

Reference these visuals when sizing wires and selecting fuses.
